The much publicised issue of the alleged encroachment of Panjbakhtar Road Temple land for constructing multilayer parking was settled on Sunday after Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh spoke to Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.
Dr Singh said that the matter has been settled and is a closed chapter now.
Jammu Municipal Corporation and Jammu Development Authority, stepped back saying that they have nothing to do with the matter and allegations of "encroachment" are baseless.
The people thanked Dr Singh and appreciated his timely intervention for settling the issue at the earliest.
Protests started in Jammu a couple of days ago after media highlighted that the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) and the Jammu Development Authority (JDA) reportedly with other agencies are planning to construct a multilayer parking and a commercial complex on the temple land.
The caretaker of the temple, Suresh Kumar Sharma, flanked by devotees staged a protest and alleged that the JMC and the JDA were trying to grab the temple land.
Some political outfits also joined the protests.
He had said that the land belongs to the temple and there were documents to prove that. “As per the documents available with us, the entire land belongs to the temple”, he said.
Meanwhile on Sunday, Mr Sharma said that he has received documents from JMC and JDA wherein they have  claimed no involvement into the said matter.
He thanked the media and the netizens for launching a movement on social media to save the temple land.
